Family and GrouP Photos
When making your family and group shot list and considering the amount of time you’ll need to build into your timeline for this, keep in mind that each photo will take 2-3 minutes to get everyone together (in place, looking forward, etc.) Depending on the final list and location this could be anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Appointing someone (maybe a very organized and/or assertive friend/family member) to help gather everyone for photos is strongly suggested. It is also advised to let everyone who needs to be in formal photos know ahead of time (either in an email/text, or at the rehearsal dinner) that they will be needed for photos at the specific time and location that is planned upon.
Below is an example of a typical family/group shot list (the couple will be referred to as A + B):
Couple with Grandparents (side A)
Couple with Immediate Family - side A (parents, siblings, & significant others)
Couple with Immediate Family - side A (parents and siblings only)
Couple with side A parents
A alone with parents together
A alone with parents individually
A with siblings
Couple with Grandparents (side B)
Couple with Immediate Family - side B (parents, siblings, & significant others)
Couple with Immediate Family - side B (parents and siblings only)
Couple with side B parents
B alone with parents together
B alone with parents individually
B with siblings
Wedding Party (side A)
Wedding Party (side B)
Full Wedding Party
Individuals with each side (optional/time permitting)
You can modify by adding or removing to this list, but it’s a good starting point that is laid out in an order that makes this part of the day go smoothly!
